HTNS2004 Report and Awards
President's Report 2004
We saw a decrease in membership particularly the juniors this year however there was a general increase in clinics and competition numbers.
There were more entries moving up into Training level which is very positive and encouraging. I hope we can say the same for Preliminary in another year or so. Several riders traveled to PEI and NB to compete and take part in clinics out of province, and vice versa. Bodes well for our loosely affiliated association appropriately dubbed "Maritime Eventing".
We suffered the loss of Red Bank as a Horse Trials but many thanks to the Lewis' for running a Combined Test which did give another opportunity and brought out a few first timers and young horses for dressage and /or jumping.
We hope to see them in the future at Horse Trials. Combined Test's are growing in popularity, emphasizing the importance of the other phases.
The two CB events saw an increase in entries but few new memberships. A lot of work has been done to the facilities there, but much needs to be done to get them on board yet. The Central Nova H.T. was a huge success and the regional A/B/C Pony Club Rally ran in conjunction with it.
We welcome back to Applewood Nancy Marshall and her family. Thanks to Nancy, I think we'll see at least two prelim horses next year! Hopefully two CCI* candidates as well. Applewood had a special unannounced guest, Anthony Trolloppe was in N.S. visiting at the time and took the opportunity to come to Applewood and take some photos. Check out the pictures from Applewood on his website http://www.eventingnews.com/photos/applewood/04/. We also welcomed Julie Ansems home during Applewood and she was the dressage judge for the day. Julie has been away in New Jersey working with Lorraine Laframboise for the past couple of years and is staying on there. Hobby Horse enjoyed sixty + entries again this year.
I thank wholeheartedly ALL the organizers and volunteers who keep these competitions going year after year. I know it is a lot of work.
Competitors, please remember to thank them! It means a lot.
